THE BABBLING ORCHESTRA

A work for Narrator, Piccolo and Orchestra
Written By Elliott Forrest
Music by Michael Shapiro

THE BABBLING ORCHESTRA is a new work for orchestra and narrator by award winning broadcaster, writer and producer Elliott Forrest, with music by composer and conductor Michael Shapiro.

This delightful 15 minute work is a story of playing-well with others and global cooperation. International themes are played by different members of the orchestra while throwing the solo spotlight on the piccolo player.

The music is a set of variations on a theme first composed by the 17th century German, Hans Leo Hassler. Bach, in his St. Matthew Passion, then used the same theme. In modern times, the very same theme was used by Paul Simon in his “American Tune”. Generations of listeners will recognize this timeless melody.
